Petit Coeur Residence is just 15 minutes from the foot of Europe's highest mountain and where you can choose from the hundreds of kilometres of ski runs offered by La Thuile and Courmayeur ski areas. Mont Blanc, with its glaciers, legends and history links them together.

Enchanting cross-country trails wends their way through the woodlands, beside mountain streams and through the unspoilt landscape of Val Ferret. Both this wonderful valley and Val Veny are just a few minutes away from Petit Coeur Residence, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The ski trails depart from Planpincieux (1580 metres), and wind their way along the entire length of the valley as far as Lavachey.
Snow shoes are easier and less technical to use than cross-country skis and allow anyone to go walking in the snow without difficulty and little effort. Giving greater freedom of movement in fresh snow, you can reach unspoilt, wild locations much easier using snowshoes.
As with all mountain pursuits, you must not overrate your abilities, always choose comfortable clothing, do not take risks on difficult or tiring routes and always consult the weather forecast before setting out. Hiring a guide is undoubtedly the best way of having fun free of worries.
The Aosta Valley is a popular destination for ski tourers and sets the stage for big ski mountain competitions such as the Mezzalama Trophy. The season runs for six months a year, from November to June. There's such a wide variety of routes on offer that everyone can find something suited to their fitness and technical skills: ascents on wide slopes lasting 2 hours or routes across glaciers lasting several days. Many summits can be reached on skis, including Gran Paradiso, the only 4000m mountain lying entirely within Italian territory.
